An interactive generative art engine that transforms live typing into thriving botanical gardens with procedural growth, organic physics, and rich visual exports.
Bloom re-imagines digital input as botanical planting. Rather than treating typography as static glyphs on a grid, every character typed onto the canvas serves as root and anchor for organic growth. Stems creep upward, budding nodes unfurl leaves, thorns calculate protective angles, and procedural petals burst into vivid blooms.
Keystrokes control the natural lifecycle: typing advances the root network, the spacebar cuts stems to start new floral clusters, backspacing triggers withering and decay animations, and enter clears the soil. Beyond live typing, a dedicated Poster Studio provides precision controls over orientation, motion presets, custom seeds, and export pipelines for high-resolution PNG, SVG vector, frame sequence ZIPs, and video capture.
Here is the computational pipeline from user keystroke to multi-layered canvas rendering and export:
Digital typing is often an emotionally detached, sterile experience — characters appear instantaneously in uniform black and white rectangles. Bloom was born from the desire to make typing feel tactile, alive, and ephemeral, echoing the rhythm of natural growth and decay.
The ambition was to unite the precision of typographical metrics with the spontaneous irregularity of nature. By modeling organic growth patterns — leaf attachment angles, stem curvature under wind load, layered petal whorls, and fluttering butterflies that seek resting perches on flowers — typing transforms from transactional text entry into an expressive generative performance.
BroadcastChannel API (tg-live), displaying live concurrent gardeners across windows and tabs.Bloom transforms everyday typing into an intimate artistic interaction. By fusing typographical metrics with algorithmic botany, it demonstrates that software can be meditative, visually breathtaking, and organic — turning every word into a garden that blooms, breathes, and withers in harmony with the writer.
