Traditional blogging platforms often lack true real-time interaction, making content publishing feel static. EightBit Blog was built to empower writers and readers with instant communication, live content updates, and responsive design. The goal was to create a modern, community-driven platform that combines the simplicity of classic blogging with the interactivity of live chat, while giving authors robust admin controls for content moderation and presentation.

The main challenge was integrating real-time Firestore listeners with a feature-rich blogging interface without causing unnecessary re-renders or performance drops. Managing typing indicators and live presence tracking required careful data structuring to avoid excessive reads and writes. Role-based commenting and admin moderation introduced another layer of complexity in access control and UI condition handling. This project strengthened my skills in structuring scalable real-time databases, optimizing React rendering patterns, and designing admin workflows that remain intuitive even with complex role permissions.
